Andy was born in Plymouth and educated in West Devon. He worked as an undertaker before joining the police in 1984! He enjoyed a varied UK police career finishing in the role of Assistant Chief Constable. His service followed a long family association with policing in Devon and Cornwall.
Since concluding his police service Andy has worked as an independent consultant specialising in leading multi-agency safeguarding partnerships, delivering organisational assessments of safeguarding policy and practice, and as a lead reviewer and published author of statutory safeguarding reviews. He has also worked in crisis management where he has delivered training and consultancy to a range of sectors and organisations within the UK and overseas.
Andy was one of the original trustees of the Museum charity. He remains committed to developing the Museum’s networking opportunities whilst ensuring the history, values and heritage of the force are preserved and appreciated, for their contribution to civic society, past-, present- and future.
