Derek began life in the Royal Navy, joining at 15 years old. After his retirement from the navy Derek worked in a variety of interesting roles, including as a Red Arm at the Old Bailey, before working with the City of London Police in their vehicle accident section.
Derek retired in 2008, and now enjoys golf and fishing, and working in the collections. Derek is an expert on the conservation of policing uniforms in the collections, and before the pandemic he worked with Sue on delivering Blue Light days to local primary schools.
